The best of the best

Fly the legendary MiG-29 (above) or Russia's newest and most advanced high-altitude interceptor, the incredible MiG-31 Foxhound. Better yet, fly both! Your adventure begins and ends in Moscow, but the jet flying itself takes place several hours away in the historic town of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia's third largest city. The Sokol Aircraft Building Plant supplies premier military aircraft to more than 30 countries and employs some of the best pilots in the world. Just recently the plant celebrated 76 years of building incredible aircraft including the amazing MiG-31 and the legendary MiG-29. We make it possible for you to break the sound barrier and more in a real military jet fighter. You will be taken to and from Nizhny Novgorod in style and make all the arrangements necessary for your MiGs over Russia flying adventure.

Edge of Space Russia

MiG-31 flights take place in the town of Nizhny Novgorod, a train or plane ride from Moscow. You'll take off from the Sokol Aircraft Building Plant and fly with a top Russian test pilot. In the MiG-31, you can fly almost 21 km high to where the sky appears black above and blue below. (That's roughly 68,000 ft high.) You'll sit in the back seat of the MiG and enjoy the view out two side windows. During the flight, you'll be allowed to take the controls and experience what it's like to help fly a MiG-31.

Edge of Space Cape Town

Our English Electric Lightning flights take place at a facility called Thunder City, located right at Cape Town International Airport. The Lightning features side-by-side seating, so your view is less restricted than in the MiG-31. You'll be able to take the stick and experience flying the jet, just like you can in Russia. However, while the English Electric Lightning flies very high and you'll be able to make out the earth's curvature, it can't fly as high as the MiG. Weather permitting, you can fly at about 60,000 feet.

Thunder City is also the home of National Test Pilot School South Africa, an affiliate of the well known National Test Pilot School based in Mojave, California. Test pilots and flight engineers from around the world travel to South Africa to train in these incredible Cape Town Jets.

Take a g-pulling and breath-stealing aerobatic flight in a Hawker Hunter.

You don’t have to be a pilot to fly a supersonic Cape Town Jet. The Lightning and Hawker feature dual controls and side-by-side seating. In the Buccaneer, the seating is tandem and only the pilot has controls. You’ll be actively involved in the flight playing the role of navigator.

At Protravel at The Woodlands we can help you plan your military fighter jet flights to satiate your sense of speed and exhilaration anywhere in the world.  Inspired Escapes!
